Default OT(ish) - Patrice Cormier nearly kills opposing player

Comes off the bench and catches a player going full speed with an elbow to the chin/jaw/mouth

Please do not watch this video if you have a weak stomach, are sensitive etc its pretty graphic..

"He's feeling well given the circumstances. He has a traumatic brain injury, he almost died tonight. Several scans were made to make sure he didn't have anything major to his brain. Good news is that he's got no oedema (accumulation of water in his brain). The shock was so big that the diagnostic places him between a severe concussion and a brain death. He'll stay under observation at the Rouyn Noranda hospital for 48 hours. He has no fractures but his mouth is not looking good and he lost some teeths. He has to pass some other tests tomorrow, for his pelvis and his back.

Mikael is conscious. He spoke with his family. He's in good hands at the hospital. Continue to pray for him, he needs it."

Im going to guess there will be criminal charges come out of this.

You might as well link to where you got the other information, because I doubt you spoke to his family.

Do you really have to call him out for that? I think we realize that, kinda why the whole thing is in quotations.

EOK, a junior hockey player almost dies from a dirty hit and you're more concerned with the lack of a link??

    ----------

Hopefully Mikael Tam can recover and live a normal life without any pain. Even a minor concussion is a fairly serious injury, this hit was many more times worse!

I'm somewhat surprised (it's 2am) this story isn't anywhere, let alone #1, in the media...wait til the morning!

Another sad event in the hockey world, right before the Olympics.

I thought for sure he would bring up the Memorial Cup in this thread, not going to lie.

That's brutal. What an embarrassment to hockey.

    Thumbs down BOO Patrice

Mr. Cormier, and I use the term Mr. lightly, should be banned for the rest of the season, including play-offs. He showed his true colors by that illegal and terribly dangerous hit. When he was tossing the elbows around during the WJC, I chalked it up to the intensity of the games, but after this incident, I have changed my mind. I believe their should be charges laid against him. Shame on you Patrice.

Close. He's been suspended indefinitely, and I believe Rouyn-Noranda only has like 20 games left in their season.

Suspended indefinetely just means he can't play while they decide the punishment
