Well consider me shocked. I expected the Hitmen to win the game but not by 7 goals. Early on every chance the Hitmen had ended up in the net and the Americans couldn't stop the bleeding. Not many people give the Hitmen any respect for their defensive play but it really has been awesome after round 1 of the playoffs. I expect the game to be much closer tomorrow night but I don't know if the Ams have size to compete with the Hitmen in this series.

The thing is the Ams were actually not too bad last night. They generated several very good chances to score but Marty was excellent. The Hitmen were actually better than game 1 as well. They played a much more consistent game. The Hitmen really need to get more disciplined though, they took 2 hooking, 2 interference and a tripping penalty, those are generally more lazy type penalties. Even though the penalty killing has been awesome through the first 2 games, eventually it will catch up to them.

I also think we have probably seen the last of Owsley.

The defensive play of the Hitmen continues to impress me. It is really the main reason why they are one win away from being WHL Champs. The 4th game is the toughest to win and they have 4 cracks at it. First one is tomorrow night, lots more on a blog, you can find the link below.

We already know Calgary is or was the better team by beating the WK's,it's a none issue in my mind. Wouldn't you rather to see how the Hitmen do with a team out east and who have earned their spot into the final. I am not being sarcastic here, just would rather see how the WHL contends with the OHL or a QMJHL team and no Offence to the WK's or their fans !!
