Call it an ugly season-opening loss.

Nick Buonassisi had a four-point night for Prince George, registering a goal and three assists, as the Cougars rolled past the Kelowna Rockets 6-2 in WHL action at Prospera Place. And roll would be the key word in describing the one-sided affair.

"Prince George played very hard. They came in and they outworked us pretty much for 60 minutes," said Rockets head coach Ryan Huska. "I don‘t think we skated, I don‘t think we competed the way we need to, so we have a long ways to go. We have a lot to learn."

Asked if the result was a sign of inexperienced youth, Huska said, "I don‘t think so. We had some older guys who were our worst guys, to be honest with you. I thought Spencer Main‘s line was the one line that had some compete for most of the night. But other than that, it was a stretch to find a forward that was... just skating and just playing hard."

Jesse Forsberg, with a power-play slapshot from the blue-line at 3:12 of the first period, Taylor Makin and Brett Connolly, with second-period goals, and Spencer Asuchak, with a pair in the third, also scored for Prince George (1-1-0-0).

Brett Bulmer and rookie Zach Franko replied for Kelowna (0-1-0-0), which hasn‘t won a home opener since 2005.
