Thread: ASHTON GONE!

    Default ASHTON GONE!

I can't believe they actually DID something. Good for the Pats.

The Regina Pats have sent Carter Ashton and a 2012 bantam pick to Tri-City for Tanner Olstad, Nils Moser, a 1st round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam...

I really liked Carter , i hope he does well for Tri. I hope Lang keeps the ball rolling. I think Weal should be next. He's a west coast kid, Maybe package him with Spooner ( another West Coaster ) and Frazee to the West. Vancouver Giants have lots of players Injured. I would try for another 1st Rounder and young prospect . Bellerive or Sward .
    Exciting Times hopefully

It makes ZERO sense to trade Weal as he is 18yrs old no matter what u get for him its not worth it. Weal will be back in the WHL next season & as a 20 yr old so it is pointless to trade him as u have no creditable veterns left to help groom these young kids.

    But reguarding the trade.......
I really know nothing about the 2 roster players we got besides that the 1 kid is a midget coming in at 5'7 but he cant be a worse skater then Hutt was for that size.

At 5'7 if he can skate & has some skill it can be benificial but if is he skates like Hutt does then he is useless no matter the skill (as we found out that was the case with Hutt).

This was a great trade for Tri-City really adds another asset to there roster.

The Pats traded away one of the city of Regina,s favorite players. There was always alot of expectations on Carter Ashton. Carter did everything on the ice.He scored, hit, fought and was always trying his hardest. He is a class kid.I wish him luck in Tri Cities.I am ecstatic about what the Pats recieve in draft picks and players.Moser is a skilled playmaker.Hopefully, the Pats clean house and get younger.

I wouldn't mind if the Rebels tried to deal for Davidsone...

PatsDude, theres no way Weal is coming back at 20. He is drafted and has already put up 100 points in this league. If he wasnt so small, he might even be here now.

And I dont think Lang is done yet. Not to mention that we got too many forwards on the roster, and I cant imagine we plan on keeping too many small players. Does anybody know why Muench was scratched last night? He has been allright lately, and I wasnt aware of any injury. Its probably nothing.

As for the title, you think it wouldnt be too hard to remember the name since its at the back of the jersey...but sometimes I dont know...

Just saying with LA's depth of young prospects & the way LA has been so cautious with there player development Weal's size will play a factor in him making the AHL as a 20 yr old or being sent back to junior for 1 more season. Also 100pts as a 17 year old is impressive but when playing with the CHL player of the year as his set up man he was bound to be tooth & nails in the point race with Eberle.

Weal is still putting up points but wont come close to his 100 point season as of last year, mainly due to not enough elite talent around him. Weal has proven he can play with elite guys as didnt he have 1g1a in the WHL Russia game (1g i know he got but was pretty sure he got an assist as well)

Also lets face it alot can happen from now til then as well, Weal could get his NHL rights traded, he could sustain a injury at camp during his 20yr old year that would send him back to junior for his rehab. I just dont think Weal is a lock in the AHL at age 20 due to his size, he still needs to get alot stronger he loses too many faceoffs to stronger guys. His compete level is thru the roof, that alone could make him crack a AHL roster i will give him that. His only knock is his size & at 5'9 that will definately play a role as 5'9 is still even small for today's pro game.
