The Russians have tended to stay away from CHL players recently. I can't remember who they all were, but I seem to remember last year there were some pretty big names playing in the CHL left off the Russian squad.

Good news for the Blades though, bad new for the rest of the East.

thats very surprising to say the least Makarov was by far the best goalie the Russians played in the Subway series, i hope this decision comes back to haunt them as goaltending has always been an issue for the Russians in this tournament.

Especially with the tournament in Western Canada & Makarov having experience in these buildings (im only guessing he has as im sure the Blades have been to Calgary & Edmonton already) too bad for Makarov they have more politics in Russian Hockey then we do with Hockey Canada. Unfortunately its the kids/players who suffer the most.

look slike makarov has got more then just an invite but is named to team russia already... very interested in seeing how good (errrr or maybe bad) the blades do without him between the pipes... how many games is he going to miss, hopefully a blades fan (most likely will be lordstanley) will be answering this question

Makarov has obviously been the Blades MVP so far, losing him for however long he'll be gone for will hurt the Blades quite a bit. I think a lot of wins the team has this year were thanks to him.

Adam Todd has not been good at all and seeing him in net for a few weeks kinda scares me but if their calling up Alex Moodie which it appears they are, I'd imagine he'll see a few games cuz I think he'll be the backup next year so Molleken will probably wanna get a good look now, just my opinion though.

The Blades defense will have to get better and the offense will have to start scoring lots in the games Makarov is gone if they wanna stay near the top of the division. A few losses and they'll be down in the standings.

Instead of losing 6-3 games, we'll lose 8-3 games instead.

is he gone yet? i hope he is gone for tonites game between the Pats & Blades the Pats really need to win 2 games if not all 3 this weekend we already got the 1 win coming in MJ last nite & with the Blades not having Makarov in net will increase the Pats chances of walking out of Stoon with a huge win
