Canadian hockey player Jeremy Yablonski has been suspended for the rest of the Kontinental Hockey League season for his role in a brawl during a game over the weekend.

The 31-year-old native of Meadow Lake, Sask., is a career minor leaguer who was in his first season with the Vityaz Chekhov club.

Yablonski was initially suspended for 10 games after Saturday's game against Traktor Chelyabinsk. After further review, the league decided to increase the ban to include all 26 remaining games, a North American spokesperson for the KHL confirmed Tuesday.

The six-foot-one 235-pound Yablonski played one game for the St. Louis Blues in the 2003-'04 season.

His teammate, Kip Brennan of Kingston, Ont., had his suspension hiked from 12 to 15 games Tuesday. The six-foot-four 222-pounder is also in his first KHL season.

It wasn't immediately clear what was discovered in the review that warranted an increase in the suspensions.

Brennan, a 31-year-old forward, played for four different NHL teams over parts of five seasons. He last played for the New York Islanders in 2007-'08.

Brennan recorded two points and 222 penalty minutes over 61 career regular-season games.
