According to the Calgary Hitmen website, the Hitmen have traded centre Joey Kornelsen to the Kamloops Blazers for a fifth round draft pick in the 2013 Western Hockey League bantam draft.

Kornelsen, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, home of the Calgary Flames' American Hockey League affiliate, had four assists in 18 games and was a +5 this season.

The Blazers currently have the best record in the Western Hockey League at 18 wins, five losses and a shootout loss. The Hitmen meanwhile sit in first place in the Central Division with a record of 13 wins, five losses, an overtime loss and two shootout losses. The Hitmen are tied for first place in the Central Division with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
