That's right, then one of the councillors asked Robison if he has been asked by the shareholders to speak to them directly, he said he has not yet been asked, but would be happy to meet with them if they would ever ask? It is a never ending treadmill, Robison says Canes must improve management/leadership within hockey operations so that they can become competitive, draw bigger crowds, make money and become self sustaining financially? Then in the next sentence from McNaughton, he says nothing is changing, same manager/coach next season likely because there is no cash available to make any meaningful changes , what so ever? So here we go again! Will be interesting to see what comes out of the Brad Lukowich allegation that he brought concerns forward that some members of the coaching staff where in violation of some WHL mandated policies and procedures? If that ever becomes a proven fact, could be grounds for for dismissal with cause? With no $$$ to make any meaningful changes, shareholders that seem content to continue status quo it looks impossible for anything to improve next season, in fact, probable that things will continue to get worse as the management will have to continue to cut more corners within hockey operations (try to do more with less) which will directly impact the players and their attitudes! At some point, the league will step in though, as they can ill afford to support a team that fails at the level this one is...

The unfortunate thing is that this team may NOT have already hit rock bottom. That will happen when the Lukowich legal fight starts, last years players continue to bail and when the new draft prospects either don't show to camp or decide not to sign. Until then, I don't think we will see a rock bottom where W will step in.

One thing that needs to be made crystal clear and I believe that Robison tried his best to get the point across during the council meeting...

Fans need to understand that the BOD's work for the shareholders and that is all! It is not within the mandate of the BOD's to sell the franchise, recommend to sell the franchise or any other similar function, the BOD hires the management and staff based on projected yearly budget forecasts, projected season seat sales, sponsorship income and whatever marketing strategy exists, all of which depends on the success of the on ice product? There is an AGM once a year and there is a mid term financial report, where the financial success or lack there of, is presented to the shareholders in terms of dollars and sense. From there, the shareholders need to decide whether the franchise is viable and/or if changes need to be made and instruct the BOD accordingly for action?

Unless the shareholders themselves now wish to make a significant cash injection into this franchise or an independent sponsor (with deep pockets) can be found? Any type of meaningful change to the management/leadership of this franchise seems all but impossible? So, for me, we are at rock bottom now with virtually no chance to recover under the current structure! The only question left now, is how much more damage to careers, how much more debt can be piled on until it all comes to a grinding halt? It is time for the shareholders to invite Mr. Robison to Lethbridge for sit-down, across the table, Q & A session so that everyone knows and fully realizes and understands where this franchise is currently at and in real time! Why put the fans and players through any more of this, if the end result is the sale to a new group that has the money, knowledge and expertise anyways? Why not sell it now and get ahead by a year instead of going behind another year??? Anyways kids, have a great summer, I've now got yard work to do now...LOL Have a great summer folks!!!

I don't think the board would propose anything to the shareholders unless they were forced by the league or shareholders. A buyer would have to get the proposal to the league as well. The league then would evaluate it and bring it to the shareholders, IF in fact they take over the process. The other way is for the shareholders to get a motion passed at the AGM instructing the board that any offer they receive in writing must be brought to the shareholders for a vote. That way the shareholders have the right to accept or refuse any offer, which is how the system should work. As it stands now, the coffee shop offer on a napkin doesn't hold any sway. The board does not have to pay attention to verbal or concourse or pub offers. As reiterated, Robison said the shareholders make the decision. Some shareholder here must know a lawyer if that is the path that needs to be followed.

Lukowich manages to win that battle this team is in deep ****, even if he doesn't the legal costs is something that a cash strapped team didn't need.... the continuous gong show carries on as usual.........

Well it is official now and Pat Siedlecki is no longer the voice of the Hurricanes. That sucks because he was great at what he did. CJOC and the Canes have parted ways as CJOC is not even bidding for the broadcast rights.

What I found quite interesting is this statement from the Canes.

"Huisman says they’re now in the process of sending out a request for proposal to the other radio stations in Lethbridge and are hoping to make a decision on a new broadcast agreement in the not too distant future."

While it appears that even though this probable split has been news for awhile now, it seems no other station has even approached the Canes for the broadcast rights. You have to think the radio audience for Canes games is pretty small and the cost alone to broadcast the games may make it a losing proposition at whatever price. With the Canes losing so many games, and by allowing too many goals early in those games, there was probably nobody even listening to Pat the last few periods most the nights.

Best of luck to you Pat. You were a true professional right up to the bitter end.

Every single thread in the fabric of this franchise is unraveling, it is absolutely MIND BOGGLING that the shareholders and this BOD can even fathom that they can turn this around, last year was the year that there had to be some sort of positive glimmer, instead, they show up at the finish line dead last and 3 months late and become one of the worst major junior CHL franchises in history! Nobody wants to identify with a loser, looks like CJOC and Fred/Pat have had enough! Sell the franchise already, shesh......
