    Default Zero Contracts...

As far as I am aware ZERO of the draft picks from last month have signed with the Hurricanes where many announcements of other teams have taken the opportunity to sign their first/second round picks with standard contracts. And now seeing prospects taking the Jr A route rather than playing Major Jr is sad. These kids are giving up opportunity to play in the WHL because they don't want their careers to die in Lethbridge. Need new GM, new coach and even new OWNER to right this ship.... feel bad for the kids drafted this year and last.

That's right and there will be not one that will ever sign here while pretty much every Jr A program in western Canada offers better player development then this franchise...this BOD/management/coaches think its all about them and have totally lost sight of the fact that it should be all about the players??? They have already ruined the very promising careers of some really good players the past two years! Jordan Belerive is likely being offered countless full ride opportunities to go the NCAA route and will more than likely refuse the WHL unless he can be moved to a franchise that has the capability to offer him at least a reasonable chance to develop. It is going to be really interesting to see what guys like Bell, Duke, Estephan, ErKamps, Sheen, Walters are going to do, now knowing that nothing will change and their careers have already been irreparably damaged last season? McColgan choose the BCHL last year over Lethbridge after being traded here, must have have been advised that going there was a better option than coming here to be humiliated and embarrassed? One would have to believe that there has to be some decisions that they must make as staying here would all but end their careers? How can you be the absolute worst franchise in the ENTIRE CHL and not make any or at least one significant change??? It just seems unfathomable how this can and is being allowed to continue...maybe they will figure it out on the golf course? LOL Doubt it though...

What I think is even worse is that Anholt and Allen, the 2nd and 3rd picks from 2013 are still unsigned as well and these guys should be considered for roster spots this season.

Default What I think is even worse......

is that 2500 people continue to support something that DESTROYS these kids chances of making a mark in the dub and beyond..theres no mystery the people in charge don't give a **** about the future of these kids along with the Calgary crew, so the only choice for the youngsters is to hold out and await any form of trade. I don't blame them or their families for a second, It make me wonder how the idiots in charge though view this dissention. is it a business as usual thing of a complete lack of awareness in their tiny little narcissistic world.........

..."so the only choice for the youngsters is to hold out and await any form of trade." Yes, hold out and wait is what they all should do and demand that changes be made that will allow them to learn, develop and compete! Not like there is any danger of being traded to a worse team in the WHL, cuz there isn't one...a trade to any other franchise in the WHL is a positive step up and improves all of their odds of development, it's the poor players and families that have to come this way that will have the concern, but they can always demand to be moved as well I guess....

Sadly, that might be the only option now. With the past few seasons the team has had and likely the season that they will have next year, the draft picks that this team has and will have will be high and should have result in highly skilled players. Players that would help this team out this year and over the next 2 years... doesn't look like that will happen now. If the two high picks from last year don't sign this summer and Bellerive doesn't sign, hopefully that will be enough to wake someone up and get this team back on track.

    Enough about McColgan...

Portland had to get rid of McColgan in order to free up that 50th spot on their list to pick up Boes. It wasn't a Lethbridge issue, he had already been sent down to the BCHL months before Portland even dealt his rights to Leth.

And don't forget BCHL players get more "money" than WHL players.

Portland traded a 3rd round pick for him last summer and he scored once in 10 games with the club. His attitude/mind was already made up about the WHL...

If we cross out McColgan, Leth got a 2nd round pick for Boes, that's pretty good in my eyes... McColgan was simply extra ink on the paper to help Portland get through the deadline.

PS: TSN has Reid Duke projected to go in the 3rd round this weekend in the NHL draft. If he gets drafted that high from this (insert adjective here) organization, that will surely be great news!!

Default new station no voice as yet

The Lethbridge Hurricanes and Rock 106, which is owned by Rogers Media, have signed a three-year contract involving broadcast rights. They haven’t haven’t yet named a play-by-play voice. The Hurricanes had been heard on 94.1 CJOC for the past seven seasons. . . .
