Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that local product Duncan Campbell has been assigned to the AAA Midget Wheat Kings.

A 17-year old center, Campbell has played the past two seasons with the Brandon midgets scoring 41 goals and 73 points in 80 regular season games. In seven playoff games last spring, the 6'3" 187 lb. Campbell scored four goals and 12 points.

While he did not play in this weekend's home and home series with the Moose Jaw Warriors, Campbell did see action in two pre-season games for the Wheat Kings.

"Duncan has had a good month with our club and will remain in the organization’s plans," says Wheat Kings General Manager Head Coach Kelly McCrimmon. "We think he has upside, and feel another year of midget will serve him well."

Monday afternoon's announcement leaves Brandon with twenty-six players on its active roster - two goalkeepers, fifteen forwards and 9 defencemen. One of those defencemen is captain Ryan Pulock. The 19-year old Grandview, Manitoba product is currently skating with the New York Islanders, who made him the fifteenth overall selection in last June's National Hockey League Draft.

Earlier today, the hockey club confirmed that 15-year old prospect Kale Clague was on his way back home to play for the Lloydminster AAA Blazers.

The Wheat Kings, who swept the Warriors to kick off the regular season this past weekend, return to action this coming weekend when they travel to Prince Albert to meet the Raiders in a 2-game series at the Art Hauser Centre.

Brandon's next home game is a week from Wednesday when they kick off a 5-game home stand against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Edmonton Oil Kings.

Tickets to that game as well as all of Brandon's remaining home games will go on sale Friday morning at the Keystone Centre box office.
