Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell announced the team has acquired left wing Jaimen Yakubowski and right wing Sam Mckechnie from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for left wing Riley Sheen, left wing Carter Folk and a third round selection in the 2015 Bantam Draft.

“So far this season we have shown potential to be a contender in the league but it is a very competitive division and we felt the experience and scoring these two bring will give us the depth to fully round out our lineup,” said Farwell. “We are a tougher team to play against today with this trade and we are excited about what these two players add to our team.”

Yakubowski, a 19-year-old, has played 11 games this season and has one goal. Last season Yakubowski had 32 goals and 18 assists for 50 points with 126 penalty minutes in 66 games.

Mckechnie, a 19-year old, has appeared in nine games with the Hurricanes this season and has one goal and two assist for three points. Last season Mckechnie had 26 goals and 18 assists for 43 points with 44 penalty minutes in 72 games.
