Thread: Canes PROSPECTS and ALUMNI.

    Default Canes PROSPECTS and ALUMNI.

I thought I would start a new thread to discuss the Hurricanes Prospects and Alumni. Whether it is the prospects or the alumni, none of it has to do with the current miserable situation the Hurricanes are in.

Alberta just defeated BC and won the Gold medal in the U-16 tournament that was completed today, Nov 3 2013. Manitoba won the bronze medal game over Saskatchewan earlier this morning.

The Canes had 3 prospects in the tournament. The final numbers for those players are as follows:

    Tak Anholt . F. . BC 4-0-0-0
    Jaeger White .F. AB 4-0-0-0
    Stuart Skinner. G AB 2-0 GAA 2.00 SAVE % .895

Skinner was in goal for the Alberta Gold medal winning game.

    Arrow Stewart Skinner

Here are the latest results for goalies in the Alberta Midget AAA league. Sorted by save %.

No. Player Team Minutes Played GA W L T SAV SAV% GAA SO

    35 Desrosiers, Joey Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings 495 16 6 1 1 269 0.944 1.94 2
    29 Dea, Patrick St Albert Sports Raiders 480 17 5 2 1 266 0.940 2.13 0
    1 Butler, Brandon Calgary Buffaloes 500 17 6 1 0 258 0.938 2.04 1
    29 Mudryk, Josh Fort Saskatchewan Boston Pizza Rangers 447 21 3 5 0 281 0.930 2.82 1
    31 Gora, Patrick St Albert Sports Raiders 478 17 3 4 1 222 0.929 2.13 0
    1 Sittler, Jayden Red Deer Optimist Chiefs 418 12 5 2 0 152 0.927 1.72 0
    31 Kenyon, Dakota Lloydminster Baker Hughes Bobcats 495 16 7 0 1 184 0.920 1.94 1
    1 Brewin, Robert Lethbridge Midget AAA Hurricanes 508 25 2 6 1 276 0.917 2.95 0
    1 Child, Travis Sherwood Park J.Ennis Kings 496 19 8 0 1 208 0.916 2.30 0
    35 Skinner, Stuart SSAC Boston Pizza Athletics 452 20 6 2 0 211 0.913 2.65 1

Skinner's save % has him all the way down to 10th. He does not even make the list for the top 10 GAA. (The AMHL only list the top 10 goalie stats) There are only 19 teams in the league so Stewart Skinner is average or slightly worse as far as his SP and GAA go.

    Default Szudor, Eric

Does anyone know if the goalie Eric Szudor is still on the Canes 50 man PPL?

Just as a matter of fact, Szudor was the winning goalie in a game between his CAC Gregg Distributors and Skinner's SSAC Boston Pizza Athletics on Nov 17th. Skinner got yanked after allowing 6 goals on 30 shots.

After all the rave reviews for Skinner, and barely a peep said about Szudor, he may have had his adrenaline pumping and played one of his best games. Because other than that stat, Szudor does not appear in any of the top 10 any lists for the AMHL, at least not that I could find.

Tomorrow Stuart Skinner and his SSAC will be in town to play the Midget Hurricanes 5:30 at Nicholas Sharon. SSAC will be the favorite in this one, of course I have no idea if Skinner will actually be starting or not.

A few weeks ago when Med Hat was in town Jaeger White scored 2 goals but then left after crashing hard into the end boards and then missed the next couple of games as well, he is back playing now.

big solid goal that take up much of the net..it hard to get a read on how he would do if he was between the pipes for the canes as his current team is a good one, Edmonton plays good hockey and stuart is called on once and a while to stop the odd break away but time will tell on that one.....thanks for the heads up on tonights game.....
    GO CANES GO.................

Default Skinner at the Macs Tournament

In the SSAC BP Athletics first game at the Macs Midget tournament against the Alaska Jr Aces, Ryan Larochelle was the goalie with Skinner as his backup. Alaska Jr Aces defeated the BP Athletics 4-2 with an empty net goal. Larochelle played pretty good stopping 30 of 33 shots, but was on the losing end of the score.

Stuart Skinner got the start in the second game for the SSAC BP Athletics and came away with the win over the Valley West Hawks in a 5-1 game. Skinner had a great game stopping 36 of 37 shots.

The Athletics play their 3rd game tonight (Dec 28th) at 8:00 PM against the Prince Albert Mintos. From the results of the first 2 games, I would think Skinner should get the start in goal tonight.

    Default Colt Conrad

Colt Conrad was the player of the game for team West in a loss to Team Pacific in the U-17 tournament. Canes still have him on their 50 man protected list. Georgio Estephan had a goal and an assist in team Pacific's win tonight.
