Thread: NEW PATS ROSTER OUTLOOK

  1. #11

Default Here's my picks for the roster

GOALTENDERS – I think the pats will start the season with the Wapple/Fuhr tandem. By years end they should get a 17-18 year old back-up Goalie.

    Daniel Wapple 19
    Tyler Fuhr 19 – TRADED/RE-ASSIGNED
    Dawson MacAuley 20 – TRADED/RELEASED.

DEFENSEMAN – Krushen is still on the bubble. Hansen will be traded at some point, the sooner the better. I’m not overly impressed with Schacher either. The Pats are lacking toughness on D. we need a Kamloops Ryan Rehill, Seattle Evan Wardley, Lethbridge Tyler Bell type defenseman. Tyler Bell for Dawson MacAuley???? (trade for 20’s)

    Kyle Burroughs 19
    Colby Williams 19
    Brady Reagan 17
    Chase Harrison 18
    Isaac Schacher 19 – TRADE??
    Sergey Zborovsky 17
    James Hilsendager 17
    Ryan Krushen 16
    Carter Hansen 19 – TRADED/RE-ASSIGNED

FORWARDS – Stephenson is gone. Klimchuk should be traded. I like some of the players that I have marked as traded or reassigned but if we going with a youth movement, it just makes sense. Toughness is a key component we are missing. Either Edmonton Brandon Baddock or Kelowna Tyrell Goulbourne would be a dream to have on our team. Even Swift Current Tanner Lesann. If we are looking for young toughness look no further than Carter Folk & Steven Alldridge from Lethbridge.

Chandler Stephenson 20 – AHL BOUND.
    Morgan Klimchuk 19
    Sam Steel 16
    Connor Gay 19
    Dryden Hunt 19
    Luc Smith 16
    Rykr Cole 17
    Adam Brooks 18
    Braden Christoffer 20
    Austin Wagner 17
    Jacob Elmer 16
    Colton Kroeker 17
    Max Kammerer 18
    Rylee Zimmer 17
    Jared McAmmond 17 - REASSIGNED
    Kyle Westeringh 17 - REASSIGNED
    Patrick D’Amico 20 – RELEASED/TRADED
    Logan McVeigh 18 - TRADED/RE-ASSIGNED
    Darcy DeRoose 19 - REASSIGNED
    Dane Schioler 18 – REASSIGNED

Iconwhl Gardiner signs WHL Standard Player Agreement

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey club is proud to announce the signing of 2014 2nd Round (35th Overall) WHL Bantam Draft pick, forward Erik Gardiner, to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

Gardiner (6’0”, 165 lbs.) captained the Humboldt Broncos of the SBAAHL last season, totaling 61 points (24G, 37A) and 48 penalty minutes in 31 games. Those numbers had the Humboldt native in the top ten in league scoring. Gardiner also played four regular season games with the SMAAAHL’s Prince Albert Mintos, scoring one goal over that stretch.

After a successful Training Camp with the Pats, Gardiner moved on to play in the Extreme Hockey Pre-Season Tournament over the weekend where the 15-year old had one assist in two games. Having been reassigned by the Pats, Gardiner heads to Prince Albert to join the Mintos for his first season of midget hockey.

Gardiner is the second player from the Pats’ 2014 WHL Bantam Draft Class to sign with the club after 1st Round pick Jordan Hollett inked his WHL Standard Player Agreement in May.

The Pats continue the WHL Pre-Season this weekend against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Friday, the Blue and White head to Manitoba to take on their rivals before returning home to the Cooperators Centre on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. tilt. Tickets for Saturday’s game are available at the door at $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Tickets to both remaining pre-season home games are included in Season Ticket Booklets which are available for Season Ticket Holders to pick up at the Pats Office.

I have to admit I think you are very close to what it may be. The only difference on defence IMO they will move Williams over Schacher. He is far bigger and they gave up 5th round picks in both 15 and 16. The return would need to be a lot I think to move him.

Webb has played well and could be in the mix. Might they keep DeRoose over Hansen to provide some presence they currently don't have. I think Westeringh may be kept over Brooks who may be moved. I agree I think MvVeigh and D'amico may be moved.

They have talked of a rugged d-man and forward. I think they will go for that to keep the young guys safe. We don't want them abused and intimidated to where they regress. I like the idea of going young but it does require some modifications to our lineup.

Earl Webb no longer appears on the Pats roster.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if Williams was traded, if the return was decent.

I think Webb was released. Its hard to stay on top of these things this year. The Pats are being a little hush hush on their roster moves.

It has been difficult to keep up on roster moves this year. In the past either Phil or Greg would have some updated info on a regular basis. Not this year. I only seen a couple scrimmages and the blue and white game. Webb looked very good, and certainly better than some vets. It appears that some of the mediocre vets have been guaranteed spots, at least for now, so he would have been victim of numbers. Good skating 6'3" forwards are hard to find. DeRoose will hang around a bit longer because of his needed skill set.

Webb looked terrible in the preseason game he got into was not impressed much at all

he might be big and skate decently but you still have to have more skill then that IMO... yes he did look good in training camp and the blue and white game but most older guys do

I suspect Webb and DeRoose were brought in for the same reason. Only DeRoose showed he was willing to engage. He is still here for a while at least.

I really hope DeRoose makes the team, even as a 19yr old I think we have a burning need for his presence on the ice. He brings more of a physical edge then a guy like Hansen his same size

If he's willing to drop the mitts, protect this team, and produce abit, he's a welcome addition.

I miss the seasons when he had a legit enforcer, Freadrich, Kaczkowka, Orr, Stoesz... and Churchman.
