Thanks for posting. Glad camp is finally here.

It would be a shame if we gave up on Gingras. Agree on Armour, Braid, and Skapski but I imagine there will be a surprise or 2 in camp.

I thought he looked good this morning. Gingras last season was a strong and skilled player. The only thing holding him back was speed, he was very slow. This morning in practice i thought he looked a little quicker. I believe he worked on some power skating in the off season. Lets see how he looks vs the vets, if he did infact get quicker, he could be a great WHLer.

1 surprise in camp this morning for me was Brandon Machado. He seems to do all the little things right and wins the puck battles. Could be a gem. No one on the ice can seem to find a way to get around Libor Hajek, he stood out right away.

One final Thought.... I noticed Cam Hausinger was wearing a Blades helmet... In past camps i noticed that the people who wear Blades helmets are returning players(obviously) or signed prospects... Take that for what its worth. Last season Hausinger wore his L.A jr Kings helmet in camp. Maybe he's signed? Maybe he just forgot his helmet at home? Who knows.

In an interview yesterday Hausinger said "I'm here to try and make the team" So if that's not a sign that he wants to play here then dunno what is lol. Hopefully he'll be as good as the Blades think he will.

I might've been a little hard on Gingras, he is young so hopefully he'll have a good pre-season. Didn't impress me a whole lot last season.

Here's my revised projected roster. Won't be surprised if there isn't any 15's on the team during pre-season unless Tychonek signs.

    Saskatoon Blades (25)

    Forwards (14)

    Kris Bzdel (99)
    Logan Christensen (99)
    Connor Gay (95)
    Luke Gingras (98)
    Ryan Graham (96)
    Cameron Hausinger (99)
    Cameron Hebig (97)
    Lukus MacKenzie (99)
    Mason McCarty (97)
    Josh Paterson (99)
    Wyatt Sloboshan (97)
    Nikita Soshnin (97)
    Josh Uhrich (96)
    Nick Zajac (95)

Likely won't see both Bzdel and Christensen on the team. Like to see the Blades another 18 or 19 yr old forward.

    Defencemen (8)

    Jared Bowman (99)
    Libor Hajek (98)
    Schael Higson (98)
    Jake Kustra (99)
    Brycen Martin (96)
    Nolan Reid (98)
    Bryton Sayers (96)
    Mitchell Wheaton (95)

    Goaltenders (2)

    Nik Amundrud (97)
    Brock Hamm (97)

    Graham - Hebig - Zajac
    Soshnin - Slobozan - Gay
    Urich - Gingras - McCarty
    Hausinger - Patterson - McKenzie

Lines 1 and 2 will get very similar playing time as will lines 3 and 4. Zajac needs to be a little better offensively to keep his top 6 spot.

Christenson, Skapski, Braid, Armour will have to fight it out to make this team. Mind you i think Braid has looked much improved from last season thus far. So has Gingras.

    Hajek - Martin
    Reid - Higson
    Wheaton - Kustra
    Sayers/Bowman

    Amundrud - Hamm.

Sounds like Sayers "retired" to go to school. Looks to me like they need some more experience on the back end. One pick I don't like is Bzdel......didn't show well to me.

Well here are today's releases from the Blades website...

    TYLER STRATECHUK - 1999 - D/L - 5’10” - 196
    KYLER DOUGLAS - 2000 - D/R - 5’11” - 173
    MAX SALPETER - 1998 - D/L - 6’3” - 206
    BRAYDEN DUNN - 1998 - LW/L - 5’8” - 167
    KRIS BZDEL - 1999 - RW/R - 5’8” - 189
    CONNOR TUFFS - 1999 - RW/R - 5’10” - 164
    GERRICK RIPLEY - 2000 - C/R - 5’7” - 145
    AVERY RIPLEY - 1999 - LW/L - 5’11” - 211
    JORDAN HUDSON - 1998 - C/R - 5’11” - 176
    REID MILLER - 2000 - D/L - 5’8” - 157
    EASTON HESSE - 2000 - G - 5’9” - 155
    JORDAN WILDE - 2000 - G - 5’9” - 163

No surprises. Although I wonder why they didn't release more goaltenders. Luding won't be kept now and none of the others will challenge Hamm for the backup spot.

Interesting news bout Sayers, could benefit Bowman then. Like to see him and Kustra rotate in and out of the lineup then.

I really like the idea, esp for Luding. He deserves a pre-season start, being the highest picked goalie they have. I personally would love to see him & Gryz play equal time in the Lloyd game. After next wkend, I see them keeping Gryz, since he's from saskatoon, & the Walsh kid cuz he's older & looks better than Kustra.
