Lee for a 6th round!?! Was he really only a 6th round player? I don't think he is like sliced bread but I didn't think he would rank that low, in my mind it is just another symptom of what all is being said here about the brain trust.

Lee played over 130 games with the Giants and his save % for those was .885. That ain't no small sample size. It also means you could put just about anyone else in between the pipes and he couldn't do any worse. With that in mind, a 6th rounder is probably fair compensation.

He is a 19 year old, and he has always had backup goaltender type stats. 6th round pick is not bad of a return for a backup goaltender that likely won't be in the WHL next season.

I'd argue the Giants were lucky to get a 6th round pick for Lee. Face it the guy had little to no trade value. They have been trying to trade him for a few years now. He is not a starting goaltender at this level. The Giants lucked out Edmonton ended up with an injury and needed a goalie.

I hate to call young players "busts" just cause their kids BUT I'd have to say Lee was a bust. He was so highly promoted and drafted. He never developed. Quite a disappointment.

I remember how much the Giants were "glowing" over him.

I guess all high picks don't work out like a lot of sports teams.

Lee was absolutely a bust. No doubt about it. That or the Giants severely over-hyped him. Maybe a combination of both. Either way lets just hope the same doesn't happen for Kubic. He was even more highly touted than Lee.

I guess after seeing what the Giants do with anybody below 3rd overall picks far too frequently, a 6th round pick seams abysmally bad, given the fact that the he has never had any consistent d in front, as a team, and I think the organization didn't do him any favors I think he leaves with stats that are padded in the exact opposite way Slade and Sexsmith's #'s were. Slade's issues aside I'm just talking about the solid d both those guys had in front of them.

It's impossible to compare given how different those scenarios were. That said, I really don't believe Lee is good enough to be a starting goaltender at this level even with a good defense in front of him. I think he is a fine back up at best. Consistency has always been an issue for him and that simply isn't acceptable for a competent starter. That typically separates starters from back ups.

I hate to beat a horse when I already agree in principle. And if you give me the liberty of calling Lee an average b/up could we agree on that? I guess as a limited use b/up I guess I just figured that they might be worth more than a 6th round. And I guess to me, watching how the Giant's higher picks have faired the last 7 years or more I don't really hold a 6th round very high at all. If Lee had been given a little better d and more consistent d would you say he could be among average b/ups, or is he really worse than average in which case why waste a couple years trying to trade him and just waive him and get it over with especially when it will be like pull a rabbit out of the hat for the Giants to doing anything of value with a 6th rnd unless by the 6th they aren't relying on their own scouting reports.

Crunk is back with the team now. I'm happy because I'm tired of seeing this team pushed around and seeing one of the Cougars tougher players fight Benson and knock out Cox earlier tonight. I think Cox is going to be out a very long time. He looked concussed pretty badly. At least Crunk won't put up with that kind of **** without reacting. Nobody on the Giants did jack **** about it tonight. Very annoyed by that. Don't let the box score fool you if you see that Thomas fought McAuley. McAuley had to ask Thomas to go and Thomas obliged. Thrower or Odgers or somebody should have went after him without giving him any option about it. Even though McAuley didn't get a penalty on the play it was a late hit and it wouldn't shock me if he is suspended. But I hope he isn't and I hope Crunk tunes him up. That is always better than any suspension.
