Thread: News Flash: Management has learned nothing from the past several years of futility

I think a few years ago when the rumors started being touted about not going to the Giants that things were being a little bit over blown. The last couple seasons definitely well justified in staying away. This year I'd have to suggest a pyshc eval for any player's decision group where the player could have gone to a different team/league.

Any word or rumour the Giants are staying or leaving? I keep checking Twitter but all seems quiet. I would think quiet means there staying? Maybe a year or two lease?

Steve Ewen and news 1130 both seem to believe they will be moving. I thought I read somewhere that the Giants have schedules a press conference for Tuesday, but I couldn't find it again.

It's been reported by multiple sources the team will be moving to Langley. I believe there is a press conference set for next week sometime? Tuesday I believe?

I believe News 1130 even tweeted that the other day.

Initial reaction is "bittersweet" I just wish ownership didn't run it into the ground.

I'm not convinced the fan base that existed previous will ever exist again. The game has changed too much. Attendance is down league wide. Of course winning will help a little...but it isn't always the answer. The product has to be good. And more often than not it isn't anymore. And there isn't a simple answer or solution to that. The way the game is going leads to a more boring product, IMO. I get so tired of hearing about "speed and skill". It's mumbo jumbo. All speed and skill isn't entertaining. You need a balance. Plus skill is a subjective term. Systems and structure can effectively suffocate skill and ultimately beat skill more often than not. And as long as that can be effective it won't go away. Anyway the game I loved growing up and even in the past decade or so is dead and gone for good. So I just have to accept that. But that means not being a part of the game now. And I'm fine with that. It just doesn't entertain me enough. The Giants have been desperate to reach out to a new audience a "family friendly" one. Is there one out there? Maybe. But it wasn't happening in Vancouver. Too many other things to do or other teams to follow. Maybe that will change in Langley or another city if Langley isn't a long term destination. Who knows?

    Johnson back to Portland

Still no coach or GM named.

Business as usual in the Toigo dictatorship. Incompetent people incapable of making a decision. Loyal Toigo-ites keep jobs they should have lost years ago. Nepotism, Nepotism, Nepotism and more Nepotism. Franchise, without a direction, plan or clue.

It'll be a lot of years before they are able to dig themselves out this hole and the only way they are going to do that is to shed themselves of long-time core personnel and stop being in denial. I am very sorry Benson, etal that you have to play in this atmosphere and with this kind of (snicker) "leadership" who lack the ability to make a decision in a timely fashion. Or a decision to make the team better.

Well said! It seems that Ron Toigo focussed primarily on his Tsawwassen Springs project a few years ago and turned the reins over to his son who hasn't a clue and boy does it show in some of the decisions he's made. As for cleaning out the deadwood, it should happen, but it won't, and we'll get the same old, same old. I for one am not going to renew my season tickets.
