    So let's see...

The Bantam draft is in about seven weeks and we do not have a GM, and the scouting staff in place (if it still is) from the old regime has proven to be worthless. Time is running out for the Giants to appoint a new GM and give him time to review/select a scouting staff and be in a position to do a proper job at the draft. Great way to make your new GM comfortable in his new position and start to build a team for next year.

The season is over and there is no word on where the team will play next season. If they want to sell any season tickets, they need to pick an arena and plan a marketing campaign. I wonder when that will happen? Great way to rebuild a fan base.

The team fired its coach two games before the end of the season after hanging him out to dry by reportedly not even discussing with him the vacant GM position, even though he has the experience. Clearly Toigo is holding out hope for Mike Johnston, and was even willing to can the coach in hope of enticing Johnston. Did he learn nothing from the massive fail when the same events unfolded not once but twice when searching for a coach in 2014 and 2015? Great way to encourage players to report to the team next year.

Too bad no one could see this coming.

I also thought that they would be in a slightly, ever so slightly better position at the end of this season compared to last. While they aren't dead last I think that is one of those cases where the stats are painting a better picture than reality.

Makes me wonder if there was some sort of bonus that would have kicked in if Lorne managed to make it through the entire season, or if he didn't just try and explain to the boss that the boss was better just having his name down as owner and not also a ghost gm/coach.
YOU ECHO MY THOUGHTS ENTIRELY...SAVED ME WRITING MORE. 10 years a STH and couldn't imagine living without being able to watch the Giants... Starting 3 years ago it became to painful and finally last year I pulled the pin my 3 tickets. I thought I'd see a few games but never did. I will say this....I think they were forced to take Moliken as he was the only one available..I didn't think he was the guy. He sure did nothing in Saskatoon. He may have a lot of wins but he has been in the league 50 years. I think that WHL series on a Memorial Cup where the Blades were focused on really turned me off on him. Couldn't get out of the 1st round and decimated his team of draft picks to try win.
I bid you all a good off season. Dondo.Kassian. Johnny, Lucic , Knuckles, Price is Right,Mezaros, Scrunt etc the list goes on....My first and only post I think this year.

Ya, I gave up my tix too, thought I could never live without my Giants, and guess what? I haven't been back either. The product sucks and I don't even miss it...

BTW, Glen Hanlon will be the GM/coach...

If they are choosing Hanlon then they should have hired him two months ago -- having a Coach/GM combo at this level - especially with such a broken franchise is a really dumb idea. Toigo continues to prove that he is an idiot without any real advisors who know the game inside and out and bring NHL credibility. I know I harp on it, but the team really misses Quinn especially and Howe to a lesser degree. Ownership is making decisions they shouldn't be making and in the process insulting fans and failing to put together any semblance of a realistic plan and timeline for a proper rebuild. We have the second overall bantam pick this year (due to our poor record) and no GM to rein in our useless scouting pundits, or Toigo. Having Bonner still hanging around has given Toigo a seriously false sense of comfort and that is not helping.

Between the WHL and other leagues actively cutting the heart and soul out of the game and a franchise that seems to have no clue - I have a hard time having any hope for a better tomorrow. Add-in the fact that they are playing the dumb "we are going to move (or not)" game and you don't get a conducive atmosphere for progress or even positivity. For the fans this was probably the most unwatchable hockey in the franchises history. When I find myself considering going home during the second intermission of a regular game with a close score, you know the product has become nigh unbearable. The NHL has ruined our game and the bullsh*t is finally trickling down to a point where even the hunger of the young players can't lift the product much above mediocre. *sigh* Part of me is hoping they move to Langley so I can let my seasons tickets go with a clear conscience.
