    Default 2016-17 Overage players

With the season now over, it is time to look forward to next year. Of course we will lose three overagers this year as we always do, but there are seven players looking for three spots. Neilsen I don't think will be back. With the youth movement in Toronto, I think he will play in the AHL. That leaves six to pick from. My three would be (in order) Wong, Pankewicz and Lindgren. I would love to have Folk, but the numbers just don't work. Having an overage goalie when we have Skinner, that doesn't work either. Kroeker showed pretty okay, but definitely a step below the three. Unless, of course there is some kind of a block buster trade, I really can't see any other combinations that works.

I agree that Wong and Pankewicz will be our next year 20s but I think they will keep Folk. I think Lindgren is odd man out because they can squeeze bellerive into the 2nd Center spot. Kroeker or Vandervlis can be your 3rd line centers. Regardless, they will have to move a few 20s and it would be nice to get back a few 98s to fill those spots. Kids that can stick around for a few years.

Lindgren had almost as many goals as Folk had points in the regular season, and he is also a part of the deal with Brandon that many perceive as being extremely lopsided. Due to the fact that they HAVE to trade or release some overage players by next season, there is a diminished return on any deal that they make involving them (ie: they might get a third round pick for Lindgren). Kitt turned out to be a bust, so with Erkamps's junior career over at the end of the season, and Reid Duke likely going pro after a long WHL post-season run, the Hurricanes will almost certainly want to milk as much out of that deal as they can (With both Pankewicz and Lindgren seemingly being the only two players from that deal that will be in the WHL next season). For those reasons, I can't see any possible way that they hang on to Folk over Lindgren.

From an outsiders perspective that makes sense. Most Canes fans however have long gotten over the those trades. That was the old regime and everything is new and shiny now. Particularly since Anholt had nothing to do with those moves. I am sure that the past will have nothing to do with which 20'S WE KEEP.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

    Default Re Overagers

I'm predicting Sittler in Saskatoon. They need some stability with a few bad seasons and fan disenchantment They seem to have a surplus of young kids that are not willing to commit to the Blades May be a win for both clubs.
Other than that it's wide open. I'm guessing Wong and Lindgren. Toss up between Nielson and Pankewicz. Too many bad penalties for Nielson this year.
it will all depend on what the rest of the teams are needing I guess
