The Giants will have no problem getting season ticket holders, & it wouldn't surprise me if there is a waiting list once the season begins. There is more people on this side of the Fraser than in Vancouver. The majority of their season ticket holders were coming from the Tri-Cities, (Maple Ridge, PoCo, Coquitlam) Surrey & Langley. That's another factor in moving to the LEC. They weren't all coming from Vancouver as you seem to believe. So they lose half, so what, there is more than enough hockey fans over here to easily cover the amount they lose. There are also a few coming from Vancouver, (Kits). Real fans will find a way, just the way we, & many others did for years, before the Port Mann & after, tolls & all.

Even seasons ticket holders who live across the Port Mann are electing to give up their seasons tickets. If that isn't indicative of the direction the franchise is falling I don't know what is. This past season was probably the worst ever. Not just in win/loss, but mainly in quality of hockey and level of compete
I'm sure some people are not returning for various reasons but it won't matter as they are easily replaceable because of the population in the area.

I don't buy for a second any thought of them moving & comparing them to Chilliwack is laughable. This team has been at the top & I believe once again they will, unlike the Bruins who had zero success.

Definitely on the small side, but kids at that age can grow several inches over the summer & he'll definitely need to add weight. I've never seen the kid play, I'd bet none of us have so to make a rush decision that this kid is not gonna be good is dumb & unfounded.

Gallagher was a very late round pick -- sorry but this kid is not going to grow 8-10 inches to be even average sized - 110lbs? Second round? Who the F around the Dub would have taken him in third, fourth, fifith, eighteenth round? More really bad drafting by a broken franchise, who didn't think it was important to have a GM or a Coach in place for their draft!! - so the same clownshow, with Rippilinger who has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he is completely incompetent leads the "charge".

Fraser Valley fans will give them a couple of years of this mediocrity and then they too will depart in droves. Toigo needs to let the hockey people make the hockey decisions Keep being a cheerleader, but if you think you are going to watch better players/product next season then you are deluding yourself

Langley, the Fraser Valley? Hardly. Have you ever ventured out this way, because if you had, you would realize Langley isn't the Fraser Valley.

With a new coach & GM, it'll be interesting to see how the team will be. They may have some struggles but they are on the upswing & as Hanlon said, they are in the middle of a rebuild, not at the start. They have a lot of top bantam picks in the system & a few on the team so I believe they will bring this team out from the basement.

I will keep being a cheerleader because I will continue to go to the games & support the team.

I don't think the Giants (as far as wins/losses go) can get much worse than they've been the past few seasons. So in that sense it will likely get better. My main concern would be quality of play not just the Giants, but league wide. It's sub-par and boring most nights. That is a league (or really in the bigger picture a sport-wide problem). I don't see that getting any better. The quality of play, the type of player (personality wise, undeserved sense of entitlement) is all too common now is contributing to the sport becoming unwatchable. Maybe the first "honeymoon" season in a new venue will bring a bit of excitement and hope...short term but whether that'll last who knows? I really don't know what to expect and don't care to make any predictions. We all know change was needed and it has happened. Many are now bitter about the move (understandably) and that is clouding some of their ability to recognize that certain change has happened and maybe that is a step in the right direction? Of course the scouting staff should've been canned and ideally it would be better if Toigo stayed a spectator but there is only so much that can be done in one off season. I don't know if Hanlon and McKee will be "the answer" so to speak but what was in place previously wasn't working and it wasn't going to. The only thing to do now is take a wait and see approach. It's impossible to say what will or won't happen. More change is definitely needed. But it can't all happen just like that. It's been dysfunctional for years, it isn't going to get repaired over the course of one off season.

There is no doubt that hockey, professional or junior, is not ever going to return to what I consider the "golden era". It's long gone, especially in the NHL, but there are still some great games, fewer as each season passes. For me, it's more than a lack of physical play but a total lack of scoring chances. Blocking scoring lanes, blocking shots, etc. It's gone overboard in the NHL, where teams can go a full game & not have more than 2 or 3 quality scoring chances. This years Cup Finals are a perfect example of ultra boring hockey. (Go Sharks) The WHL game has been on the decline for almost a decade but I still enjoy going to the games for more than just watching the game but for the conversations with other fans & just catching up with people you don't see outside of the arena.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to meet for a beer at the bar? Probably more entertaining too.

Sadly I agree wholeheartedly. Watching hockey now for me is like watching a close friend slowly die. Sometimes you see a glimmer of hope and it gives you that nostalgic feeling of what it used to be and then the next minute you become reminded that it's a mirage and that game is gone for good. It brings very little enjoyment or entertainment to me. I still watch the WHL (mostly out of habit) but each and every year I pay less and less attention. The game isn't entertaining enough to justify paying to go other than maybe a game or two here and there, IMO.

The new energy should have the Giants getting good crowds again for a little while. But if it remains the same sheet-show on the ice, the team will be playing in front of 2,500 in no time, just like the last few seasons at the PC. I'm much closer to the LEC than the PC, but I won't be going to more games unless the on-ice product picks up. I don't watch garbage regardless of it's proximity to me.
    WE ARE ALL GIANTS.
