Slade just made it to a Devils tryout

The Vancouver Giants will have to go without their starting goaltender for a time this preseason.
Dustin Slade, 19, has been given a free-agent tryout with the New Jersey Devils.
It’s highly unlikely that he’ll earn a contract out of it.
Such deals are a chance for teams to get a first-hand look at a player they may want to keep an eye on during the year, and for teams to have plenty of bodies at training camp for scrimmages.
The Giants picked up the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Penticton native in the offseason in a deal with the Regina Pats.
The Devils are slated to open camp sometime during the second week of September.
