    Default Minnesota Wild About Kassian

    Found this blurb:

    Minnesota goes Wild over Kassian

Matt Kassian, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound battleship, who is a product of Sherwood Park Minor Hockey, was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the second round of last Saturday's NHL seven-round draft - 57th overall.

Kassian is the WHL's premier enforcer. The left-winger was acquired by the Kamloops Blazers from the Vancouver Giants last season. The Wild, who selected sniping forward Benoit Pouliot of the OHL's Sudbury wolves with the fourth overall pick, took Kelowna Rockets goaltender Kristofer Westblom in the third round.

"In the first round we bought an expensive piece of jewelry," Tom Thompson, the Wild's assistant general manager for player personnel, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "In the second round we bought some insurance for the jewelry."

Kassian is living with his parents in Sherwood Park for the summer, managing to fit in classes at Concordia University in Edmonton around power-skating, training and boxing sessions. He will likely attend the Minnesota Wild training camp and then return to Kamloops for the rest of the 05-06 hockey season.
    "It's clobberin' time..."

Good for Matt, big mistake by the Giants letting him go.

And in the third round they got a steal of a deal in Westblom. If Kris would of played all year he would of gone alot higher than third round.

Thats a little higher than I figured Westbloom would go considering how little Ice time he got.

If Kassian improves as much as he did from Year 1 to year 2, with his skating, look out.
