The Pats were seriously handcuffed by the timing of the announcement. Had they known sooner they would have done things differently no doubt.
Lescyshyn and Henry should end up point per game guys, and perhaps better. They will draw good returns. If needed Homes could be moved for a good return too. He had 16 goals last year and will likely be in the 25 range or better this year. Good value.
Both Creta and Harkins are both solid d-men and in the very age bracket that a lot of teams are looking for. Creta is a good puck mover and they're hard to find. Harkins is huge and a previous 2nd round pick. Both will draw decent.
Max Paddock may be a dark horse but IMO, It wouldn't surprise me to see him moved. He would draw a strong return regardless of what anyone thinks. His play in the Memorial Cup solidified that. He could be kept until next season where he might even draw more. He's a quality goalie and they're hard to find. When your building for the future you don't usually trade for an 18 year old goalie to come in and back up your other 18 year old goalie. This has the earmarks of a Jan 10th deal. They may not move him but when you need picks and prospects, everything needs to be on the table. I'm sure it is.
Everyone has their own opinions on players quality etc but it's the GM's who decide what they like and what they pay for them in trade situations. I agree that Paddock has paid some enormous prices for assets and has really impacted the picks and prospects the Pats currently have. However there is nothing that can be done about the past deals. It's incumbent on him to do a great job recovering those picks etc, and signing the talent like Smilanic, Bohlsen, Panowyk and Carter Savoie. There is no doubt going to be some pain for a year or two but circumstances have lead there. Not all of our own making such as the way the Memorial Cup was awarded. It's up to Paddock to fix it now.
You are the first person I have seen give Harkins a positive rating in a very long time- no shortage of poor reviews though. I never thought about Paddock, definitely will be offers out for him. Is he a 2000?
Yes Paddock is a 2000.
Harkins is a bit of an enigma. He was a great prospect and drafted in the 2nd round. He is a bit slow and people get down on him, however we may not be seeing the full picture. He currently has one of the better plus/minus of all the d-men on the team! Actually better than Hyman, Schioler, Evans and Sedov. It's an early sampling granted but he has played a lot and hasn't been on the ice for many goals against. It is what it is. He needs to work on his foot speed but he is a real big tough kid. Seattle loves those types of guys. Hard to say what he would bring but we may be surprised.
Ya...he's always been regarded as an "off the board" pick in the second round. Personally, I'd rather see the '01s stick around over Harkins, especially with three overages(eventually two??) manning the blue line.

Henry and Leschyshyn are both 19 and Max Paddock is 18. Those are the three players in the 18/19 age group with any substantive trade value. I felt that Max played really good in the second half of the season last year and in the Memorial Cup (Final) as a 17 year old. He was injured before playoffs began, so he was unable to play in the first round against Swift Current. Any team looking to win a Championship over the next couple of years should at least consider acquiring Max. He has ice in his veins and has the ability to stay focused and stay calm in big games, when it counts.
It's too bad that the Pats didn't know about hosting the Memorial Cup before the trade deadline, but there's nothing anyone can do about it now. John Paddock had one leg in both years and despite the Pats having two good teams in back to back years, they won nothing. I think that's the most disappointing part about the last two years.
