Beating the Raiders on Dec 30th in Prince Albert, while the Raiders were the #1 ranked team in the country was a huge win for them. It was the Raiders' first home loss of the season. Beating Lethbridge, while Lethbridge had Leschyshyn and Henry on their team (post trade) was huge. Beating Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Brandon were all notable wins. Beating Edmonton 4-0 was a big win even though it was Edmonton's 3rd game in as many nights and they had a bunch of players scratched (due to illness I believe).
Max Paddock and Dean McNabb have both had games where they have stood on their heads. Austin Pratt scoring 22 goals so far this year after not scoring a single goal last year in a Pats uniform has been huge for the team. Some of the young players have taken small steps forward.
The Pats got down early on Kootenay last night and most of Kootenay's goals looked soft, but credit to Pats for not giving up and for coming back to win. Dean McNabb came in and shut the door and the Pats found ways to put the puck in the net. That's not the way you want to win a hockey game, but I think the Pats need to take it and move on.
Unfortunately, in the big picture, the Pats do need to play more consistent hockey and they do need to find ways to improve their overall talent next year, but considering what the team is this year, they've earned some big wins and have had some moments to be excited about.
