    Default Blazers come out flat

    Drop Decision To Hawks (blazerhockey.com)

For the second straight night, the Blazers fell behind 3-1 in the first period, but this time were unable to rally...ultimately falling 5-2 to the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday night at Interior Savings Centre.

Brian Woolger opened the scoring midway through the first period before Roman Tesliuk tied the game with a 4-on-4 goal less then three minutes later. But the Hawks restored the lead just 27 seconds after THAT on Woolger's second of the game, then Brandon Dubinsky put the Hawks up 3-1 another 24 seconds later with a powerplay goal.

Michael Sauer gave Portland a 4-1 lead with the lone goal in the second period...despite the fact the Blazers outshot the Hawks 14-6.

Matt Kassian cut the Hawk lead to 4-2 with a powerplay goal of his own early in the third, but Woolger's hat trick goal with 9 minutes left, shorthanded, ended any hope of a Blazer comeback.

Final shots were 31-20 Blazers. Kamloops was 1-for-12 on the PP and 9-for-10 on the PK.

Devan Dubnyk suffered the loss while Dustin Butler was solid in the win.

Portland had a good team game Saturday night in Kelowna, sounds like they did the same job in Kamloops. The Hawks have a good team and will be tough this year.

Portland did a good job of getting guys behind the defence all night and that was the difference in the game, are defence looked very unorganized and the forwards did not come back to help like saturday night, its early but we are already two different teams hopefully they fix the problems fast.
