    SILVERTIPS ADD SONNE TO ROSTER

Silvertips Add Quality Depth at the Forward Position

Everett, Washington: The Everett Silvertips have added forward Brennan Sonne to the roster earlier today. Sonne comes to the Silvertips from the Burnaby Express of the BCHL (Junior A).

This season for the Express, Sonne added 10 goals and posted 18 assists for 28 points in 30 games. The Maple Ridge, BC native also tallied 5 power play goals which ranked him 3rd on the hockey club in power play tallies. Last season, Sonne registered 10 goals and 17 assists in 48 games for the Coquitlam Express

“We think Brennan can add energy to the team and is a type of player that can make plays,” mentions Silvertips Director of Hockey Operations/Head Coach, Kevin Constantine. “In the future we feel he can play in any situation and we welcome him to the Silvertips organization.”

The Silvertips will host a very special New Year’s Eve game at the EEC on Saturday, December 31 at 5:05 p.m. against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Default How did we end up with this player?

I don't recall ever seeing his name on our 50-man PPL before the season... When did Sonne come into the picture?

    Default Sonne

Looks like they listed him earlier in the year. The 50 man PPL's change all the time.

    Sonne signed, sealed, delivered

The class of 1987-born players is a thin one in the Western Hockey, and especially for the Everett Silvertips.

So in an effort to upgrade its 1987-born talent, Everett has signed 18-year-old right wing Brennan Sonne to a WHL contract.

"Since this franchise started we've been trying to build our 87 class, and we still think that's a class where there's opportunities for guys," Everett coach and director of hockey operations Kevin Constantine said. "That definitely was a factor to bringing him in."

Sonne, a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, was listed by the Silvertips earlier this season. Playing for the Burnaby Express of the British Columbia Hockey League, Sonne had 10 goals and 18 assists and compiled 70 penalty minutes in 30 games.

"He's a point-a-game guy in his league, which doesn't necessarily mean he's going to do that in this league, but that's a pretty decent pace in any league," Constantine said. "We like the way he works and we like some of his skills. We think he can help our team, so we're going to give him that opportunity."

Sonne is the older brother of Calgary center Brett Sonne, who is one of the top 16-year-olds in the league.

Sonne is expected to be in the lineup tonight.
