Just a bit of box-score recap on this one, didn't see or listen to the game, but I figured I'd flesh out the stats into prose. Gally had a great night by all accounts. Curious if Tucker was good enough to get the star nod. Sounds like the team might be starting to gel a bit as well, which is good considering the games coming up.

Giants Club Cougars
Vancouver 6 Prince George 2

The Giants and Cougars played a pretty tight game for two periods, but then the visitors blew the doors open in the third scoring four unanswered goals to put the game away. The game was different from last nights tilt, as the Giants did not get any PP goals and the Cougars scored one. Brendan Gallagher had a banner night scoring four goals, getting the natural hat-trick, putting the Giants up by one and then extending that lead in the third. Jamie Tucker got the start in net and despite only turning away 19 of 21 he managed to get a nod for the third star.

The Cougars opened the scoring in the first on their first PP of the game. Brett Connolly tickled the twine at 12:09 of the opening frame. Kevin Connauton got that one back 38 seconds later, putting the puck past Alex Wright who was minding the Cougar net tonight. Cass Mappin and Neil Manning were awarded the helpers. Brett Lyon and Garret Thiessen dropped the mitts near the end of the first. Marek Viedensky put his squad back up by one just past the mid-way mark of the second. Gallagher tied it back up with what would prove to be his first of three straight. Craig Cunningham and Nolan Toigo got the assists on the play. The teams went to the second intermission tied at 2’s.

Gallagher scored his second of three straight 2:46 into the third, with Cunningham and Lance Bouma garnering the helpers. Less than three minutes later Gallagher tickled the twine again, this time getting a lone assist from Lyon. Garry Nunn scored his second in as many games breaking up the Gallagher run. James Henry and Nathan Burns helped out on the tally. Gallagher scored his fourth and with it his first four goal game in the WHL, late in the third. Bouma and Connauton were there with the assists.

The Giants out-shot the Cougars 33-21. They went 0 for 4 on the PP, while giving up one as the Cougars went 1 for 3 on their PP. The Giants next tilt is back at the Coliseum on Wednesday when they take on the Kootenay Ice. Puck drops at 7pm.
