Portland 3, Kamloops 2 Hawks hold off Blazers

KAMLOOPS, B.C. -- The Portland Winter Hawks, who had a three-goal lead late in the second period, held on to defeat the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 in a Western Hockey League game Friday night at Interior Savings Centre in front of 4,925.
Frazer McLaren gave the Hawks the lead at 4:46 of the first period. In the second period, Jannik Hansen scored on a power play, and Nick Hotson followed less than two minutes later with a goal for a 3-0 lead.
Kamloops got on the board with five seconds to play in the second, when T.J. Mulock scored on a power play.
Ray Macias took advantage of a rebound of a shot by Reid Jorgensen to get the Blazers a second goal at 14:54 of the third period.
The Hawks outshot the Blazers 24-23, with Portland goalie Kurtis Mucha earning the win.
