Bronco Molson Player of the Year Announced

The Swift Current Broncos have announced that goaltender Kyle Moir is this season’s recipient of the Molson Player of the Year.

This season, Kyle has re-written the Bronco goaltender record book, breaking records such as:

• Career gamed played (176, breaking record of 140 by Terry Friesen)
• Career minutes played (9,721, breaking record of 8,252 by Terry Friesen)
• Career saves (4,606, breaking record of 3,725 by Terry Friesen)
• Career shutouts (11, breaking record of 9 by Bryce Wandler)

Also in 2005/06, Kyle has been the backbone of the Broncos defense and has been amongst the leagues best goaltenders in a handful of categories. Kyle is currently:

• Second in minutes played (3,641, trailing Leland Irving with 3,672)
• First in saves made (1,827, ahead of Tyler Plante with 1,614)
• Second in games played (63, trailing Leland Irving with 65)

After 63 games played this season, Kyle has recorded a .913 save percentage to go along with a 2.83 goals against average and 4 shutouts.

Kyle is now a candidate for the Eastern Conference Player of the Year, the winner of which will advance to face the Western Conference Player of the Year. On May 3rd, 2006, the Western Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player will be announced in Calgary, AB.
