Default Pushkarev now #1 in points

    Individual Scoring (Calgary Hitmen)

    Konstantin Pushkarev gp53 g17 a24 pts41
    Ryan Getzlaf gp39 g23 a17 pts40

Ryan has only played 39 games, but Pushkarev is in his Rookie year.

But this is also his first year on North American ice and he's turned it on since the winter break. The adjustment period for him was rough, but he seems to be stepping up more and more, which is a good sign for the team.

However; a team with a leader at 41 points is a little bit.....unsettling. That being said-- it's good to see that 11 players have 20 or more points this season.

I remember the preseason "Both Ladd and Getzlaf will score 100+ points."

With absolutely no disrespect intended for Pushkarev, that he is leading the team in scoring only underscores just how pathetically disapointing Ladd and Getzlaf have been.

That's true RTG; but to Getzlaf's defence (which will probably be the only time you'll hear me say that) but the injuries and playing in the WJC didn't help his cause for the long run.

With Ladd, you have to look at how big he climbed up last season to start his career in Major Junior. Repeating such a breakout season is hard to do. He was so hyped and all of that that the pressure was probably too much to repeat. However, he has shown his feistiness on the ice lately with the scraps his gotten himself into.

It's a good thing that Ladd is learning how to fight, becuase he is not going to make the NHL as a scorer.

Asking Ladd to put in a consistant effort that involves actually being a leader (he has an 'A' afterall) on the ice, while avoiding stupid penalties is not too much.

We have players who can fight. In theory, Ladd is only hurting the team by stupidly getting into fights. In reality, his work ethic is so poor that getting him off the ice is a good thing.
