KAMLOOPS, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have filled out their coaching staff for the next two seasons by hiring Shane Zulyniak as the team’s Assistant Coach/Assistant General Manager and Andrew Milne as Assistant Coach.

“Shane and Andrew are perfect fits for our team,” says General Manager Dean Clark. “Having been with the team through the second half of last season, Shane already has a head start on things. Plus, his experience, as a player in junior and in pro in Europe, and in the workforce, will be invaluable,” added Clark.

“Andrew has been involved in coaching since his days as a player in the Western League. With his education, experience, and enthusiasm, Andrew will strongly complement our on-ice staff,” concluded Clark.

Shane, along with his wife Pamela and son Samuel, have called Kamloops home since 2001 when Shane took a job as Division Manager with Arrow Transport in 2001. A native of Sherwood Park, AB, he spent his entire 5-year WHL career with the Prince Albert Raiders from 1990 to 1995, playing 318 games in a Raider uniform, a franchise record which stood for 10 years.

Following a tryout with the IHL’s Houston Aeros in 1995, Shane attended the University of Calgary where he obtained a Commerce Degree with a major in Marketing in 1999. Before embarking on a career in the workforce, Shane played two seasons (1999-2001) with the Straubing Tigers in the Germany Second Division.

After winning a league championship under Dean Clark with the AJHL’s St. Albert Saints in 1995-96, Andrew went on to play four seasons in the Western Hockey League, splitting his time between Spokane, Swift Current, and Medicine Hat. During his WHL career, Andrew played for current NHL coaches Mike Bab**** and Todd McLellan.

Andrew played one season (1999-2000) with the Peterborough Pirates of the British National League after which he returned to Swift Current to serve as an assistant coach with the Broncos. He then attended the University of Alberta where, in May of 2005, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a major in Sports Management. During his university studies, Andrew also spent three seasons behind the bench as an assistant coach with the St. Albert/Spruce Grove Saints. After serving as an associate coach with the Broncos in 2005-06, Andrew went back to Edmonton to work as a mortgage broker before accepting the job with the Blazers.

Both Shane and Andrew will start their new jobs on August 1st.
