Default Stone co-player of the week...

One of the hottest players on one of the Western
Hockey League's hottest teams has been named co-winner of the Greyhound
WHL Player of the Week award.

19-year old Pittsburgh Penguins' draft choice Ryan Stone, who was named
WHL Player of the Week during the opening week of the 2004-05 regular
season, shares this week's honours with veteran Dale Mohovsky of the
    Kootenay Ice.

A 19-year old native of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Mahovsky scored six
goals and had 12 points in four games last week while Stone helped lead
Brandon to four straight victories and a share of first place in the
Eastern Division with the Saskatoon Blades.

Stone's performance this past week included two 4-point games including
a hat trick in last Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the Blades as well as
three assists in Saturday's impressive 6-1 win over the visiting Prince
    Albert Raiders.

A native of Calgary, Stone enters the week riding a 7-game point
scoring streak and has pulled into sole posession of third place in the WHL
scoring race with 27 goals and 78 points. Only teammate Eric Fehr and
Colton Yellow Horn of the Central Division leading Lethbridge Hurricanes
    have more points.

Stone and the Wheat Kings will be taking a season high eight game
winning streak into Wednesday's game at Winnipeg's MTS Centre against the
Regina Pats. Winners of ten of their last eleven games, the Wheat Kings
are currently tied with Saskatoon with 74 points each. Brandon also has
    two games in hand.

Wednesday's game will be the first of three games between these two
teams in five days. Brandon will host the Pats at the Keystone Centre on
Friday before the two teams face off Sunday afternoon at the Agridome in
    Regina.

This 3-game series will be the first games between these two clubs
since the altercation between Brandon defenceman Jon Webb and Regina's
Jordan McGillivray on February 13th that resulted in a 6-game suspension
for the rugged Wheat Kings' defenceman.

In other Wheat King related news, captain Tim Konsorada will be playing
in his 300th career WHL game on Wednesday, becoming only the seventh
player in franchise history to reach that milestone. Veteran defenceman
Riley Day meanwhile will make his Brandon debut after being sidelined
since last November with a lacerated kidney. The 6'4" 227 lb defenceman
was acquired from the Medicine Hat Tigers in early January in exchange
for the rights to 17-year old Kevin Undershute and a draft choice.

  2. Thumbs up

Congrats to both players for recieving the award.Nice to see Riley Day will make his much antisipated debut on Wednesday.Brandon going for win #9 in a row, against Regina, and maybe even #'s 10 and 11.I'am not being biased but I do think that Brandon will hold onto 1st.But not taking anything away from what the Blades have accomplished this season compared to last season.

    GO! WHEATKINGS GO!
