Broncos Hot Streak Closes Gap on Brandon
DEC 11 - The Swift Current Broncos have closed the gap between themselves and the 1st place Brandon Wheat Kings to just 3 points after a successful start to the month of December that has seen them win 4 of their last 5 games.

The Broncos dropped their 1st game in 4 tries in Moose Jaw on Friday night and then travelled to Brandon for another crucial game against the Wheaties.

Goaltending was the story of the game on Saturday night as Kyle Moir and Tyler Plante both stood tall, causing the game to be scoreless after 40 minutes of play. With 7:53 left in the game Juraj Simek scored the games 1st goal giving the Wheat Kings the 1-0 lead. The Broncos then, with their own net empty for an extra attacker, managed to tie the game with just 7 seconds remaining as Jeremy Schenderling scored his 9th of the season.

The game was forced into overtime where Dane Crowley walked into a slapshot just :59 seconds into the extra frame. The Broncos won by a final score of 2-1 and have now defeated the Wheat Kings in all 3 meetings between the two teams this season. The Broncos had just 3 power play chances on Saturday night, their lowest single game total in 2006/07.

Swift Current improved their record against East Division teams to 10-5-0-1 with the win and their next contest goes Wednesday night at the Centennial Civic Centre when they play host to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Broncos are a perfect 5-0-0-0 on Wednesday night hockey games this season. Tickets for the game are available by calling the Broncos Ticket Office at 773-1509.
